PFC James Arnold Bakewell

PFC James Arnold "Bud" Bakewell, b. 22 Oct 1922 - d. 6 Jun 1944. Son of James R and Bertha May (Moffitt) Bakewell of West Brownsville, Pennsylvania. James enlisted 29 Dec 1942 in Pittsburgh and was eventually assigned to A Company 116th Infantry. Apparently he volunteered for the 29th Provisional Rangers, suceeded in his training and was returned to his unit when the Rangers were disbanded. This photo comes from his high school annual. His body was repatriated and he is buried in Bridgeport Cemetery in Brownsville, Pennsylvania.
