PFC Woodrow Wilson Fleck was born 26 May 1918 in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania to Merrill Beals and Naomi E. (Walpole) Fleck. His father worked for a coal mine and, in 1940, for the WPA. In 1940, Woodrow was farming. The family reported a total of $526 income for 1939.
Woodrow was drafted in February 1942. Sent to England and assigned to C Company 116th Infantry, Woodrow trained for the amphibious warfare that would be the Allies initial entry into France. PFC Fleck was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.
PFC Fleck was repatriated and now rests forever in the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania.
