PFC Woodrow Wilson Fleck

PFC Woodrow Wilson Fleck was born 26 May 1918 in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania to Merrill Beals and Naomi E. (Walpole) Fleck. His father worked for a coal mine and, in 1940, for the WPA.  In 1940, Woodrow was farming.  The family reported a total of $526 income for 1939.

Woodrow was drafted in February 1942.  Sent to England and assigned to C Company 116th Infantry, Woodrow trained for the amphibious warfare that would be the Allies initial entry into France.  PFC Fleck was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.

PFC Fleck was repatriated and now rests forever in the Philipsburg Cemetery in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania.
