PVT Alexander Frank Dominguez was born 12 May 1918 in Artesia, California. He was the youngest of the 4 children of Turbicio or Tony and Julia (Borrego) Dominguez. Alexander was living with his sister and brother-in-law at 10958 Grape Street in Los Angeles, California in 1940. He was then working for La Favorita Bakery and Grocery on Wilmington Avenue.
Alexander was drafted in January 1942. Sent overseas, he was assigned to A Company 116th Infantry. After training with that unit he embarked with them for the greatest amphibious assault to that time, the D-Day invasion landing at Omaha beach. PVT Dominguez was killed in action with many other members of that unit on 6 Jun 1944. Military records show that he was awarded a Bronze Star but we do not know the circumstances.
PVT Alexander is remembered on the tablets of the missing at the Normandy American Cemetery.
