PVT Donald Edwin McGrath

PVT Donald Edwin McGrath was born 15 May 1922 in Lanesboro, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest of 3 children born to Joseph Patrick and Mary E. (O'Neill) McGrath. His father was railroad telegrapher who reported a 1939 income of $1800. Donald completed 4 years of high school.

Donald was drafted in January 1943. After his training he was sent to England and assigned to H Company 116th Infantry where he trained in preparation for the amphibious invasion of occupied France. PVT McGrath was killed in action in that effort on 6 Jun 1944.

PVT McGrath was repatriated in 1948 and re-buried in Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Cemetery in Carbondale, Pennsylvania.

His father served in the U.S. Army in 1917-1918.
