PFC Robert Thomas Ainsworth

PFC Robert Thomas Ainsworth was born 25 Apr 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Robert A. and Dorothy R. (Van Pool) Ainsworth.  His father was a butcher.  For a time, his maternal grandmother and 3 of his father's sisters lived with the family. 

Robert was drafted in March 1943.  Assigned to A Company 116th Infantry, he was with the unit as it prepared for and then embarked for the amphibious landing on the Normandy beach code named "Omaha".  PFC Ainsworth was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.

PFC Ainsworth is buried at the Normandy American Cemetery.
