PFC Lonnie C Blevins

PFC Lonnie C. Blevins was born 26Feb 1923 in Sandusky, Texas to John William and Nora Belle (Hough) Blevins.  John Blevins supported his family of 14 by farming in the Red River valley north of Dallas.  Certainly, all the family helped, including Lonnie. 

Lonnie began his service in February 1943.  He was sent overseas and on 13 Jun 1944 PFC Blevins was sent from the replacement depot to D Company 116th Infantry.  He was with that unit when he was killed in action 17 Jul 1944. 

PFC Blevins was returned to the U.S. and he is now buried in Dixie Cemetery in Whitesboro, Texas.

Of his siblings we know that Kenneth Wayne Blevins (Army) served.
