PVT Victor Dean Birch was born in 1924 in Illinois to Joseph Edwin and Beulah Evelyn (Jones) Birch. His father worked as farm labor and as a carpenter.
Victor was living in Benton County, Iowa working as a farm hand when he was drafted in March 1943. After training he was sent overseas and on 28 Jun 1944 was assigned from the replacement depot to K Company 116th Infantry. PVT Birch was killed in action on 17 Jul 1944.
PVT Birch is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
