PVT Lawrence Ernest Mammen

PVT Lawrence Ernest Mammen was born on 10 Nov 1912 in Bruning, Nebraska. He was the 2nd of 4 children born to Meino Ahrends and Louise Katherine Elizabeth (Rippe) Mammen. The family farmed.  Lawrence was still working the family farm in 1940.

After entering the Army, probably in mid to late 1943, Lawrence was sent to the European theater. He was transferred from the replacement depot to K Company 116th Infantry on 19 Jun 1944. PVT Mammen was wounded on 11 Jul 1944 and evacuated to hospital.  PVT Mammen died of his wound(s) on 17 Jul 1944.

PVT Mammen is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and has a cenotaph in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Bruning, Nebraska.
