SGT Harold Herbert Fick was born 17 Dec 1920 to Charles Henry and Friederike (Richter) Fick of Otter Tail County, Minnesota. Farming supported the family of 10.
After entering service Harold was sent overseas and assigned to E Company 116th Infantry prior to the amphibious assault on D-Day, 6 Jun 1944. He survived that and on 20 Jun 1944 was promoted to SGT. On 18 Jul 1944 he was killed in action.
Repatriated in 1947, SGT Fick now rests forever in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
His only brother, 2LT Walter R C Fick, was killed in action on 8 Apr 1945 serving with the 603rd Tank Destroyer Battalion. He was twice awarded the Silver Star and is buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery.
