PVT Thomas Andrew Jones

PVT Thomas Andrew Jones was born 5 Mar 1918 in Bassett, Virginia to Thomas and Lucy (Eanes) Jones. His father farmed and died in 1926.  His mother went to work in a finishing mill to support her family.  On 24 Dec 1936 Thomas married Irene Elizabeth Dehart and they were living with her father in 1940. 

Thomas went into the Army in December 1943.  He was sent to Europe after basic training and transferred from the replacement depot to A Company 116th Infantry on 16 Jul 1944 and killed in action on that same day. 

PVT Jones was repatriated and is buried with family in Overlook Cemetery in Spray, North Carolina.
