PFC Joseph Jacob Miranda

PFC Joseph Jacob Miranda was born in 19 Dec 1914 in Tonawanda, New York the 3rd of 6 children born to Giacomo and Eugenia (Osanio) Miranda. Both parents were natives of Italy. In 1940 Joseph and his older brother Chris, worked for the Wurlitzer company supporting the family.

When drafted in May 1942, Joseph had already married Anna Louise. After training he was sent to England and assigned to G Company 116th Infantry. He trained with the unit for the amphibious landing that was part of the invasion of occupied France on 6 Jun 1944. Surviving that, he fought with the unit until killed in action on 16 Jun 1944.

PFC Miranda is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
