PFC Merrill Bernard Conrad

PFC Merrill Bernard Conrad was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on 17 Apr 1920 to Vernon Ralph and Pearl Evelyn (Hertle) Conrad.  The family moved to Massachusetts in 1925.  His father worked as a carpenter.

When Merrill was drafted in February 1942 he was working in the printing industry.  Sent overseas, he was assigned to G Company 116th Infantry.  He trained with that unit for and participated in the amphibious assault on the Normandy beaches code named "Omaha".  PFC Conrad was killed in action on 17 Jun 1944.

PFC Conrad is buried in Highland Cemetery in Norwood, Massachusetts.
