PFC Ralph Thompson Messervey

PFC Ralph Thompson Messervey was born 1 Dec 1914 in Marblehead, Massachusetts. He was the youngest of the 2 sons born to Chester Raymond and Olivia Vincent (Thompson) Messervey. His mother was born in Westport, Nova Scotia, Canada. His father worked in a shoe factory for many years reporting a 1939 income of $820. By 1940, Ralph was driving an ice truck and he made $504 in 1939.

Ralph entered the service in August 1942. After his initial training he was sent to England and assigned to F Company 116th Infantry and trained for the amphibious landing as part of the invasion of occupied Europe. PFC Messervey was killed in that amphibious landing on 6 Jun 1944.

PFC Messervey was repatriated in 1948 and re-interred in Waterside Cemetery in Marblehead, Massachusetts.
