PFC Harold Jacob Weber

PFC Harold Jacob Weber was born 23 Feb 1923 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He was the 7th of the 8 children born to Joseph and Minnie (Silverman) Weber. His father worked as a clothing salesman. In 1930, the family of 9 lived at 16 Hebron Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. They moved to 63 Hollywood Place before 1935 paying $35 a month rent. This home would rent for about $2700 today. Harold graduated from high school and went to work for Westinghouse in Springfield.

Harold was drafted in February 1943. After about 5 months of basic military training he was sent to England and assigned to A Company 116th Infantry. He then trained with the unit for the planned amphibious assault to liberate Nazi occupied France. PFC Weber was killed in action serving with the unit on 6 Jun 1944 when A Company attempted to land on Omaha Beach. 

PFC Weber was repatriated and re-interred in the Congregation Kodimoh Cemetery in West Springfield, Massachusetts.
