PFC Joseph A. Durante Jr was born 20 Apr 1909 in Bergen County, New Jersey to Joseph A. and Jennie (Buono) Durante. His father was an Italain immigrant who did odd jobs and worked as a boiler maker in a ship yard.
Joseph was drafted in December 1943. Trained and sent overseas he was transferred from the replacement depot to I Company 116th Infantry on 7 Aug 1944. He was promoted to PFC on 5 Sep 1944. He was killed in action on 7 Oct 1944.
He is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, New Jersey.
