PVT Herbert Nathaniel Lillard

PVT Herbert Nathaniel Lillard was born 11 Jan 195 in Madison County, Virginia the second of five children of Claude and Ira Leigh (Weaver) Lillard.  His father worked in a coop factory. 

Herbert was a sales clerk when he was drafted in April 1943.  After basic training he was sent to the European theater and on 3 Sep 1944 was transferred from the replacement depot to M Company 116th Infantry.  PVT Lillard was wounded and died of his wound(s) on 6 Oct 1944.

PVT Lillard was repatriated in 1948 and re-interred in the Robinson River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Brightwood, Virginia.

Father, Claude Lillard, served in the Army during the first World War.
