PFC Aram Herbert Blanchette

PFC Aram Herbert Blanchette was born 19 Nov 1909, one of 16 children to Alexandre and Georgianna (Dion) Blanchette of Woonsocket, Rhode Island.  As late as 1940, Aram was still living with the family.  He gives his income for 1939 as $2100 compared to his brother Paul who was a private in the Army and had an income of $250 for that year.  His father Alexander was still working in a cotton mill and recorded an income of $1000 for 1939.  Georgianna died in 1937. 

Aram was drafted in February 1942.  At the time of enlistment his height was given as 62 inches and weight as 115 pounds.  He worked as a truck driver and had a grammar school education. PVT Blanchette was sent overseas after his basic military training and assigned to G Company 116th Infantry.  He was with the unit on D-Day and on 16 Jun 1944 when he was killed in action.

PFC Aram Blanchette is buried in the Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket, Rhode Island with many in his family.
