SSG Clyde Hugh Harris was born 13 Jun 1916 in King George County, Virginia to Edward Berkely and Nellie Virginia (Olive) Harris.  His father worked as a driver and as a diesel engineer for an ice manufacturer.  Clyde drove for that ice producer.  Clyde had a 1939 reported income of $1040.

Clyde was drafted in April 1941.  He was probably assigned to I Company 116th Infantry not long after his initial training and likely before they went overseas in September 1942.  He was assigned to the unit on 6 Jun 1944 when the unit participated in the amphibious assault on the Norman French beaches.  SSG Harris was killed in action on 17 Jun 1944.

SSG Harris is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
