PFC Arthur Franklin Hering

PFC Arthur Franklin Hering was born 15 Feb 1916 in Xenia, Ohio to Harris D. and Lena Hering.  His father worked in construction worked and as inspector in a truck factory. In 1940 both Arthur and his father were working as assemblers in local factories. He later worked for Pieyear Seed Corn Company.

Arthur went into the service and was sent to England then assigned to K Company 116th Infantry.  He trained with that unit and was with that unit in the amphibious assault of Omaha beach on 6 Jun 1944. PFC Hering was killed in action on 13 Jul 1944.

PFC Hering was repatriated in 1947 and is buried in Ferncliff Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio.
