PFC James Essie Embry

PFC James Essie Embry was born 18 Jan 1922 in Butler County, Kentucky to David B and Mamie (Elder) Embry.  His father farmed (truck farming).  In 1940 James was working on his father's farm.

James was drafted in November 1942.  He is noted as  having only completed grammar school.  After completing his initial training he was sent overseas and assigned to E Company 116th Infantry as the unit prepared for the amphibious landing on French beaches.  He was killed in action in that landing on 6 Jun 1944. 

PFC Embry is buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Morgantown, Kentucky.
