PFC John Baptist Cerone was born 8 Nov 1908 in West Orange, New Jersey to Carmine and Francis (Gasparrini) Cerone. Carmine was born in Castel Granoe, Italy and worked as a baggage master for the railroad for at least 20 years. In 1930, John was working in a laundry and as an assistant cutter for a clothing manufacturer in 1940.
John entered service. He was assigned to A Company 116th Infantry on D-Day and was present for the landing. He was killed in action on 7 Jun 1944. PFC Cerone rests forever in the Normandy American Cemetery.
Brother, Alfred R Cerone also served.
