PVT Andrew F. Marczyk was born in 1917 in Cliffside Park, New Jersey the 2nd of 5 children born to John and Kasimira (Linetty) Marczyk. Both parents were natives of Poland. John supported his family by working at a variety of jobs including as a laborer at an oil refinery. In 1940 Andrew was working as a truck driver and reported a 1939 income of $360.
After entering the Army, Andrew was eventually sent to England and assigned to M Company 116th Infantry. He trained with that unit for the amphibious landing at Omaha Beach and was with that unit in the landing when he was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.
PVT Marczyk rests forever in the Normandy American Cemetery.
