PVT Bernard G. Prush

PVT Bernard G. Prush was born 15 Aug 1924 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the 4th of the 5 childrenn born to Stanislaw J. and Eustatia (Dmyterko) Prush. Both parents were natives of Poland. His father worked as a welder, his mother as a grocer.

Bernard was drafted in May 1943. After his basic military training he was sent to England and assigned to E Company 116th Infantry. Once with the unit he would have trained for the planned amphibious attack that was to be a part of the invasion of occupied France. On 6 Jun 1944 he boarded the landing craft for the assault. Bernard was wounded and died of his wound(s) on 7 Jun 1944.

PVT Prush was repatriated and re-interred in Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, Michigan.
