PFC Francis E. Koshinskie was born 7 Mar 1914 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to John and Mary Genevive (Taby) Koshinskie. His father, like almost every other man in the family, was a coal miner.  His father died of heart disease in 1937.

Francis was working as a miner when he was drafted in February 1942. After his training he was sent to England and assigned to B Company 116th Infantry.  He trained with that unit for the amphibious assault that was to take place on Omaha Beach.  PFC Koshinskie was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.

PFC Koshinskie is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
