PVT Mauricio Garcia Cuellar

PVT Mauricio Garcia Cuellar was born 18 May 1924 in Alice, Texas to Eliseo and Anastacia (Garcia) Cuellar.  In 1940 Eliseo was working as a carpenter in Alice, Texas.  Mauricio had one brother. 

We are unsure when Mauricio entered service but after he underwent training as a medic he was assigned to Medical Detachment 116th Infantry and then detached to Headquarters 2nd Battalion 116th Infantry to work in the battalion aid station.  He was with that unit on D-Day, 6 Jun 1944 when he was killed in action. 

PVT Cuellar was returned to the U.S. and now rests forever in Collins Cemetery in Alice, Texas.
