PVT Raymond J. LeBeau was born 21 Aug 1925 in Northampton, Massachusetts to Anthony and Sophie (Belhumeur) LeBeau. Both parents were born in Bloxton, Quebec, Canada. His father died before 1930 and Raymond and his mother lived with his maternal grandfather. In 1930, neither Sophie nor her father were employed. By 1940, Sophie had also passed away and Raymond was living with his sister, Leah, and her second husband who worked as a millwright.
Raymond entered the Army in June 1943. After basic training he was sent to England and assigned to D Company 116th Infantry. He trained with the unit for the amphibious assault that would take place at the French beach code-named "Omaha". PVT LeBeau was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944 as he took part in the invasion of "fortress Europe".
PVT LeBeau was repatriated and re-interred in Saint Anne's Cemetery in Montague, Massachusetts. His sister was the family member who requested his return.
