SGT Orville McNew

SGT Orville McNew was born 6 Sep 1921 in Middlesborough, Kentucky to Hugh Daniel and Nellie (Leach) McNew. His father was a coal miner.

Orville was working as a driver when he was drafted in August 1942. After training he was sent to England and assigned to A Company 116th Infantry.  He trained with the unit for the amphibious landings that were part of the greater invasion of occupied Europe.  SGT McNew was killed in action on D-Day, 6 Jun 1944.
