PFC John Peter Zabludowski was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 7 Mar 1920. He was the 3rd of 7 children born to Zygmunt and Anastazya (Kowalski) Zabuldowski. John's father was an immigrant The family lived in Milwaukee where Zygmunt worked in a foundry earning a reported $500 in 1939 and owning the family home at 2004 South 15th Place which was valued at $3600 in 1940. John left school before attending high school unlike his brothers and sisters and went to work. He was working for Nordberg Manufacturing Company in their testing department in 1941.
John was drafted in November 1942 and after completing his initial military training was sent to England and assigned to A Company 116th Infantry. He then trained with the unit for the planned amphibious assault that was planned as a part of the effort to liberate Nazi occupied France. PFC Zabludowski was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.
PFC Zabludowski was repatriated and re-interred in Saint Adalbert's Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
John's mother, Anna, died 6 Jun 1947, age 55. His older brother, Peter Zablodowski (his spelling), also served in the U.S. Army during the war.
