2LT John Robert Hussey

at Culver Military Academy - 1942
2LT John Robert Hussey was born 13 Nov 1921 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Robert Emmett and Stella (Lampel) Hussey.  His father was vice-president of the Hussey Tie Company and a real estate developer.  The family traveled through Europe quite a bit in the 1920s.  John attended Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana 1938-1942.

Although he intended to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point, it appears that John entered the service soon after graduation from Culver Military Academy in 1942 and attended OCS. His mother, Stella, died that same year. He was then sent to England and assigned to A Company 116th Infantry.  He was with that unit for the amphibious assault on the French beach code-named "Omaha" where he was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.

2LT Hussey was repatriated and is buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Saint Louis, Missouri.
