PFC Allen Taylor Collier

PFC Allen Taylor Collier was born 28 Sep 1915 in Chase City, Virginia to Edward Taylor and Bertha Ora (Hite) Collier.  Father Edward was a tinsmith working for himself and farmer.

Allen was already a PFC in the Chase City National Guard infantry unit when the National Guard was federalized in February 1941.  Assigned to E Company 116th Infantry through to D-Day, Allen was seriously wounded on 6 Jun 1944, went to hospital and died on 7 Jun 1944 before he could be evacuated to England. PVT Collier was returned to the U.S. and is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Chase City, Virginia.
