PFC David Aiken Crawford, Jr. (b. 6 Aug 1924 - d. 7 Jun 1944) Only child of David Aiken and Emelyn Rosborough (MacFie) Crawford of Winnsboro, South Carolina. His father ran a dairy farm and his mother was a teacher. David delivered newspapers. In 1939 his father had no reported income as was common for farmers, but David Jr and his mother earned $1073 for the family. However, young David was able to attend Clemson University.
PFC Crawford voluntarily enlisted in 1943 and after his 5-months basic military training was sent to England and was assigned to I Company 116th Infantry for D-Day and was killed in action on 7 Jun 1944.
His body was returned and he is buried in Bethel ARP Church Cemetery in Winnsboro, South Carolina.
