PFC Harry Baker Yoder

PFC Harry Baker Yoder was born 12 Oct 1918 in Sipesville, Pennsylvania. He was the youngest and only son of the 3 children born to Norman Bruce and Elda Mayme (Baker) Yoder. His father farmed and in 1940 they were farming on land they owned along U.S. Route 219 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Harry was apparently farming with his father after ending his education at the 8th grade.

Harry was drafted in February 1942 and may have been sent to Fort George Meade, Maryland where he was assigned to M Company 116th Infantry. He was sent to England in September 1942 and once there trained with the unit for the planned amphibious assault that took  place on 6 Jun 1944. PFC Yoder was killed in action on D+3, 9 Jun 1944.

PFC Yoder was repatriated in 1948 and re-interred with many family members in the Christ Casebeer Luteran Church Cemetery in Sipesville, Pennsylvania.
