PFC John M Burkhart

Cenotaph in Most Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery

PFC John M. Burkhart 19 Jul 1923 to John A. and Catherine (Fichter) Burkhart of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. John's father supported the family as a maintenance man in a meat packing plant.  John did manage to attend one year of college before he was drafted in February 1943. 

PFC Burkhart was assigned to A Company prior to D-Day and died in the landing on Omaha Beach on 6 Jun 1944. 

PFC Burkhart is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery and there is a cenotaph in the Most Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
