PFC John William Crowley was born 5 May 1911 in Cambridge, Massachusetts only child of Peter and Margaret E (O'Connell) Crowley. Both parents were born in Ireland. Peter worked as a laborer in a coal yard and an oil refinery. In 1930 John was working as a messenger in a printing firm. Later he worked as a concrete/cement finisher. He was married to Edith May.
John was drafted in March 1943 and it is noted that at that time he was married. His name does not appear on the morning reports but he was assigned to K Company 116th Infantry and was present with that unit on D-Day. On 8 Jun 1944 he was killed in action.
PFC Crowley is buried in Cambridge Cemetery in the WWII lot in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
