PFC Thomas Albert Mastroberti was born in 1919 in New York, New York the 2nd of 2 sons born to James and Antoinette (Terreri) Mastroberti. His father was a plumber but unfortunately died at the age of 27 in 1921.
Thomas enlisted in the Army in September 1940 for 1-year and so would have been discharged in September 1941. He was drafted in May 1942. Most likely he was assigned to L Company 116th Infantry immediately as a replacement for one of the soldiers who had been re-assigned after federalization. He trained would have trained with the unit at Fort Meade, Maryland and at Camp Blanding, Florida and sailed with the unit to England in September 1942. While in England he trained with the unit for the amphibious landing that was part of the invasion of occupied France. PFC Mastroberti was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.
PFC Mastroberti was likely repatriated in 1947 or 1948 and re-interred in the New York City area.
His brother, Frank J. Mastroberti was also drafted and served in the war.
