PVT Claude Vernon Bray

PVT Claude Vernon Bray was born 15 Oct 1918 to John William and Rena Ann (Todd) Bray of Polk, Missouri.  His father was a farmer who died in 1930. Rena remarried and the children lived with her and their step-father, Edward Snyder.  However, it was the older brothers who are actually the farmers in the 1940 census.

Claude entered service on 29 Jun 1943.  He was shipped overseas and assigned to 1st Platoon B Company 116th Infantry with which unit he attempted the assault on 6 Jun 1944 but he was killed on that day.  PVT Bray is buried in Montrose Cemetery in Greenville, Illinois.

Brothers Clifford Earl Bray and  Manford A Bray also served.
