PVT Edward John Siemion

PVT Edward John Siemion was born in 9 Jan 1925 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the youngest of the 4 children born to John Frank and Helen Siemion. Edward was their only son. Both parents were natives of Poland. His father worked in an electric power plant and later as a skilled auto body finisher earing a reported 1939 income of $1500, very good for the time. Consequently, the children were able to attend high school and Edward graduated from South Division High School in 1943.

Edward was drafted, probably very soon after his high school graduation. After his basic military training he was sent to England and assigned to F Company 116th Infantry. How much training he might have received for the amphibious assault that was planned as part of the effort to liberate occupied France is unknown. PVT Siemion was killed in action in that assault on 6 Jun 1944.

PVT Siemion is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
