PVT James A. Hayes Jr.

PVT James A. Hayes Jr. was born in 1922 in the Bronx, New York to James A. and Rosalie L. Hayes.  His father was a lawyer with a reported 1939 income of $2900. James Jr. worked as a typesetter.

James was still living in Westerchester County when he was drafted in June 1943.  After his training he was sent to England and assigned to H Company 116th Infantry for the amphibious assault which took place at the French beach code-named "Omaha".  PVT Hayes was killed in action on 6 Jun 1944.

PVT Hayes is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery
