PVT Raymond C. Bell was born 5 Mar 1925 in La Salle Parish, Louisiana to George Walter and Laura Malissa (Edwards) Bell. The family farmed.
Raymond entered the service in September 1942. Sent overseas he was assigned to A Company 116th Infantry. He was assigned to that unit on D-Day, 6 Jun 1944, when the unit led the allied invasion of "fortress Europe" in the amphibious assault on the Normandy beach called "Omaha" at Vierville-sur-mer in the Department of Calvados. He was killed in action that day.
PVT Bell was repatriated in 1947 and is buried in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Rhinehart, Louisiana.
