SGT Joseph A. Felix was born 24 Oct 1910 in Erie, Pennsylvania to George Eugene and Rose (Krader) Felix.  His father worked as a machinist.  He died in 1931.  In 1930, Joseph was working as a laborer in an iron foundry.  Joseph reported a 1939 income of $1460.

Joseph was drafted in June 1941.  On 20 Aug 1942 he married Virginia Mae Dawes.  Sent overseas soon thereafter, he was assigned to B Company 116th Infantry and trained with them to prepare for the planned amphibious assault on Hitler's "fortress Europe".  As it turned out that took place on 6 Jun 1944 on which day SGT Felix was killed in action being struck in the head by fragments from an artillery shell.

SGT Felix is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery.
