PVT Joel Hubbard Rossiter was born 29 Mar 1912 in Chicago, Illinois. Joel attended Northwestern University where he earned a law degree while becoming a LTC in the schools Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). After graduating in 1936 he worked for Bauman, Finney and Company as an accountant. He married Helen A. Watson on 12 Jun 1937. Joel then joined the tax department of the U.S. Gypsum Company where he became assistant head of the department.
Joel was drafted in November 1943. He received his basic training at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas and was sent overseas in September 1944. PVT Rossiter was transferred from the replacement depot to B Company 116th Infantry on 25 Oct 1944. He was with the unit through the fighting from Aachen to Baesweiler. PVT Rossiter was killed in action on 18 Nov 1944.
PVT Rossiter rests forever in the Netherlands American Cemetery.
