PVT John Kuzminski

PVT John Kuzminski was born 2 Feb 1923 in Plains, Pennsylvania the youngest of eight children of Gregor "Harry" and Catherine (Luczinski) Kuzminski. Both parents were natives of Galacia. His father was a coal miner. Harry was run down by an automobile and died of his injuries in 1940. 

John was drafted in October 1943.  He was sent to Europe after his basic training and transferred from the replacement depot to D Company 116th Infantry on 7 Jul 1944. PVT Kuzminski was wounded on 16 Jul 1944 and evacuated to the hospital. He was again wounded on 14 Sep 1944 and evacuated to the hospital. PVT Kuzminski died of his wounds on 3 Nov 1944.

PVT Kuzminski was repatriated in 1948 and is buried in Saint Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery in Plains, Pennsylvania.

His brother, Andrew Kuzinski, was a World War II staff sergeant, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corp. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star, and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with one Bronze Star.
