1LT Arthur Vinson Hendricks Jr.

1LT Arthur Vinson Hendricks Jr. was born 12 Dec 1918 in Lamesa, Texas the second son of the Reverend Arthur Vinson and Mrs. Mary Emily (Williams) Hendricks.  His father was pastor of several churches. As noted in the accompanying newspaper clipping, Arthur was a graduate of McMurry College and managed the college bookstore. 

Arthur was drafted in January 1942, took basic training at Camp Roberts, California and OCS at Fort Benning, Georgia.  Sent to England, he was assigned to G Company and was on duty with that unit on 1 Jun 1944.  He landed with his company on 6 Jun 1944 and was killed in action on 7 Jun 1944.

1LT Hendricks was repatriated in 1948 and now rests forever near his family in Fairview Cemetery (North Section) in Memphis, Texas.
