PVT Ernest William LaBarge

PVT Ernest William LaBarge was born 2 Dec 1912 in Ware, Massachusetts to Edward John and Edith Mae (Germaine) LaBarge. His father worked in a furniture store even after the family moved to Detroit. Ernest married Vera Caroline Schultz on 13 Oct 1934.  They would have a daughter in 1936.  In 1940, they were living with Vera's parents, Ernest was working as a "checker" for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and Vera was working in a glove factory.  They reported an income for 1939 of $880.

Ernest was drafted in November 1943 completed basic training and was sent to Europe where he was transferred from the replacement depot to A Company 116th Infantry on 17 Jul 1944.  He died of wounds on 3 Aug 1944.  There is a note that his initial wounds were not reported. 

PVT LaBarge was repatriated in 1949 and was buried in Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan.

His brothers, Eugene Francis LaBarge and Edward John LaBarge Jr, served in the Navy.
