SGT Norma Apell was apparently born in the Bronx, New York to Harold Jacob and Rose (Weiss) on 10 Nov 1922. He had one older sister, Helaine. His father started as a salesman for food products and eventually owned and operated his own manufacture plant for childrens' accessories.
After Norman entered the service and was sent overseas he was assigned to B Company 116th Infantry on 11 Aug 1944. He was wounded, evacuated to the hospital and died of those wounds in the hospital on 26 Aug 1944.
SGT Apell is buried in the Mount Eden Cemetery in Valhalla, New York.
SGT Apell's sister, Helaine, served during the war in the Women's Army Corp (WAC) from 11 Dec 1942 to 12 Jan 1945.
