PFC Arthur E. Balentine

PFC Arthur E. Ballentine was born in 1910 in German, Ohio to Martin Luther and Rose Adele (Donovan) Ballentine.  His father died in 1918 and his older brother Paul worked in a rubber factory to support the family.   Later Arthur worked in a printing firm to support his mother.  By 1940 he was making $1500 a year.  Sometime about 1941 he married Helen A. and they had at least 2 children.

Arthur was drafted in April 1943.  Sent overseas, he was assigned to L Company 116th Infantry from the replacement depot on 24 Jul 1944.  Wounded on 25 Aug 1944 and evacuated to the hospital he died of his wounds the next day, 26 Aug 1944.

PFC Ballentine is buried in the Brittany American Cemetery.
