After he entered the service, Norman was assigned to I Company 116th Infantry on 15 Jul 1944. On 1 Aug 1944 he was promoted to PFC. PFC Edlund was killed in action on 7 Aug 1944 near Vire.
PFC Edlund is buried in the Brittany American Cemetery.

PFC Norman L. Edlund
