PVT Francis P. Langridge was 9 Jul 1914 in Cook County, Illinois to Cyril and Margaret (O'Neil) Langridge.  Cyril died in 1916 leaving Margaret with 3 children under the age of 5.  She re-married in 1917 to Patrick C. Arundell, a Chicago policeman, and he died in 1921.  She did not marry again.  Margaret became a housekeeper for Dr. Wright, an osteopath. Later she was a masseuse and Dr. Wright boarded in her home.  Francis married Catherine Klein in 1933 and they had a daughter in the next year and a son the next year after that. Francis was working as a "mechanic's helper" in a machine shop and reported a 1939 income of $660.

Francis was probably drafted in mid to late 1943.  After basic training he was sent to Europe and transferred from the replacement depot to A Company 116th Infantry on 17 Jul 1944.  PVT Langridge was killed in action on 5 Aug 1944.

PVT Langridge was buried in the Brittany American Cemetery.

Brother, Walter E. Langridge also served during the war.  Wife, Catherine, would re-marry 3 times before dying in 1994.
