PFC Earnest H. Laxton

PFC Earnest H. Laxton was born 11 Aug 1921 in Jolo, West Virginia to William B. and Willie Laxton. His father worked as a sawyer and reported a 1939 income of $820. Earnest was also working in 1939 with a reported income of $400 but what he might have been doing is unknown.  We think it probable that he worked with his father.

Earnest was drafted in January 1944.  He completed his basic training and was sent to Europe where he was transferred from the replacement depot to E Company 116th Infantry on 9 Aug 1944. PFC Laxton fought with the unit without apparent incident until he was killed in action on 18 Nov 1944.

PFC Laxton was repatriated in 1948 and now rests forever in Lone Oak Cemetery in McDowell County, West Virginia.
