PVT Robert William Morse Jr

PVT Robert William Morse Jr. was born in 1923 in Barrington, New York. He was the 2nd child and only son of the 2 children born to Robert William and Edna Florence (Andrews). His father worked as a policeman in Erwin, New York and later as a janitor for the Board of Education in Steuben County and reported a 1939 income of $1150. Robert may not have attended high school at all.

Drafted in December 1942, Robert was working in the Corning glass works at the time. Where Robert was before he was sent to the European theater is unknown but on 13 Jun 1944 he was assigned to B Company 116th Infantry from the replacement depot. PVT Morse was wounded on 12 Jul 1944 and evacuated to hospital.  He did not return to the unit until he was transferred from the replacement depot on 21 Oct 1944. PVT Morse was killed in action on 18 Nov 1944.

PVT Morse is buried in the Netherlands American Cemetery.
